This past summer, we were blessed to welcome volunteer groups from across the country. SALT is grateful for the many individuals and churches who care deeply about our ministry and the work we do. While many groups made an impact in the lives of our unhoused neighbors, we’d like to highlight three in particular:

Elevation Church has been one of SALT’s strongest supporters for many years. Each July during their Love Week, they send church members throughout the community to volunteer with local organizations—and SALT is fortunate to be among them. This year, Elevation hosted a foot washing and provided burgers, chips, and water for our clients. Yanire Garcia, who first served with SALT during Love Week last year and returned again this year, shared: “SALT has a special place in my heart just because of the impact that I saw in the homebound community. It’s not just feeding the homeless, it’s more than that. SALT brings people back to life.”

Macon-Bethany Seventh-day Adventist Church Youth from Macon, Georgia, along with their Children’s Ministries delegation, joined us during the BAYDA United Youth Congress and Kids Congress here in Orlando. Children and young people of all ages came together to serve our unhoused neighbors. As part of their iServe service project, they chose to partner with SALT Outreach. To every youth and child who volunteered with us, thank you. Your service has made a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

Journey Church brought ice cream for our clients during the hot Florida summer. They also spent time praying and talking with our clients, helping them feel welcomed and cared for. High school students of different ages joined in serving, and our clients were excited to enjoy such a thoughtful treat. One volunteer, Jayleen, shared: “My personal story is that my dad was homeless for 5 years. He lost his life to addiction, so being at SALT is a very soft spot for me. Just being able to serve this community and love on them in any way I can means so much to me.”
This summer has shown us the incredible impact that churches, youth groups, and schools can make when they choose to serve alongside SALT. The generosity, compassion, and dedication of these groups remind us that together, we can restore dignity and bring hope to our unhoused neighbors.
